Container Design

Location: Piassa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 

Area: 53m²

This container is not boring and monotone as the word suggests. This design is based on the concept of ‘Sefed’. Sefed is a circular traditional handmade basket used as a serving bowl.   It also represents the inclusiveness and togetherness of all things from Northern to Southern Ethiopia.  This concept is appropriate for this open kitchen because it is a kitchen material.  The circular outlines are both beautiful and functional as they frame the bar on the terrace.  

The color orange is a hue that stimulates the brain, and increases the mental activity of a person and often stirs up a sensation of hunger. 

This simple design appears lively.  To add to the dynamic nature of the design, the opening of the design infuses the idea of movement along with the circular colored pattern that unite the whole design.
